Sarge Easter Grip?

Thinking of trying out a Sarge Easter grip. How much lower does the ring finger need to be dropped and how deep does the RF hole need to be? I have a 4 1/2 span.

My Sarge had a 3/4" dropped ring. And because I am a smart butt, the ring finger hole needs to be deep enough for your finger to fit. LMAO

Do you use inserts on the RF? I've seen some that have just one grip in the middle finger. I'm thinking of putting a insert in the RF hole, but a bigger than usual one so I can fit my RF all the way to the second joint.

You'll have a hell of a time coming out of the ball with a grip down to your 2nd joint. The span should be measured, there is no "drop".

Typically no but some do.  Due to the fact of the tackier material of a grip and the depth (conventional grip), it would be fairly difficult to release cleanly if the grip size were measured to fit (basically what Nick said).  I've done it for guys but used a grip 1-2 sizes bigger so they wouldn't drag as much (and have more room to clear) but didn't want to feel the hard surface of the ball.

You can use a Vise P/O grip for length (and I'd recommend to use the oval side for less drag) but there used to be conventional length grips made intentionally for the depth.  I believe they were made by Contour, not sure if those are still in production seeing as it is not as widely used anymore.  Hope this helps...

On edit: 5150, wasn't that the old hard rubber ball back in the day?  It had 5150 printed on a white dot on the ball?

Tenpinspro : "5150" is the law enforcement code for the mentally insane. I didn't even bowl when there were rubber balls being used.

Hey 5150,

Just to clarify.  Find the insert size that allows you to fit your finger all the way into the second joint and then go up another size or two is my recommendation.
