Hi, I have an old AMF 2500. The sidewinder drill. It works pretty well. My ? is the drill speed. It seems was too fast. I was wondering if anybody ever slowed one down. I tried a motor speed control but the motor will stop spinning if I try to slow it down. I was thinking it really needs pulley changed but it is not a normal pulley.

I drill on a sidewinder, but it's the 3600. I've never tried to change the speed, it works fine as is. Have you checked to be sure the motor hasn't been replaced with a higher RPM motor? I've also never checked the RPM on mine, but most posts I've seen here say around 500 is what most drills are. I do have a manual for a 2500 if you don't know what speed motor is supposed to be on it. -- JohnP

Just happened to see this Innovative has a manual for the sidewinder $3.50. Also parts.

Thanks, I have the manual. I will try to calculate speed. Motor is stock I'm sure. It just seems too fast. Maybe I need some bits shapened.

Is this the press where the motor is lying horizontally instead of above the ball?

Yes it is that style of press. BTW if anyone is interested I have one I'm looking to get rid of. Runs very well, all dials operate as should. I currently do not have bits for it and prefer my upright press. PM me if interested.
