Anybody have the Armadillo Axis Finder CD?
« on: January 15, 2007, 05:21:55 AM »
One popular bowling website advertises the Armadillo and CD for the Armadillo. Problem is, it's an extra $25.00, and I can actually find the Armadillo cheaper on another popular website. So, I could actually save over $40.00.
Does anyone have the Armadillo CD, and feel like burning me a copy? I will pay for your expenses. PM me if you can help!

I have the printed instructions.  Never knew there was a CD, too...

I'd like a copy of the instructions too! Can someone who has them scan them and send them to us digitally?

I am working on getting instructions sent to me. Once I have copies, I will try and provide electronic copies to whoever wants one. I'll update this thread when things are ready to go....

I have sent a few people instructions on what I use the Armadillo for via PM.  Since so many seem to be interested, I have copied it here and added the section on determining axis tilt.  I'll be glad to try to answer questions, either here or by PM.  --  JohnP

To locate a player's PAP, mark a section of the initial track on the ball with a
white or yellow layout pencil. Match up one of the track lines on
the 'dillo with the line on the ball (if none of them match exactly,
estimate between the lines) and mark the PAP at the locator end of
the 'dillo. To lay a ball out, let's say a 4 x 5 layout -- place the
4" line on the 'dillo on the pin AND the 5" line on the cg or mb.
Mark the PAP for the layout at the locator end and proceed as usual
from there. To draw a true perpendicular line to an existing line,
line up the dashed line on the 'dillo with the line on the ball,
placing the straight edge of the 'dillo where you want the line and
draw it.

To determine axis tilt:

When you have the 'dillo lined up for the PAP determination, count the number of rings the track is away from the full roller (dashed) line.  The full roller line has a diameter of 13 1/2".  The next track line is 1/4" away from the full roller line and therefore has a diameter 1/2" less than the full roller line, or 13".  Each line after the first one is 1/2" further away from the full roller line, decreasing the diameter by 1".  Each inch decrease in the diameter is 6 2/3 degrees of axis tilt.  So, for example, a track that lines up three lines away from the full roller line would have a diameter of 11" (13 1/2 - 1/2 - 2) and an axis tilt of 17 degrees (2 1/2 x 6 2/3).  If you will be using this feature frequently, label the various lines on the 'dillo so you can simply read the axis tilt when you determine the PAP location.
