Help with layout of a Columbia 300 Big Shot

I picked up this used ball.  I usually prefer just filling the thumb to change span, if possible, to keep the ball as close to a single drill as I can.  I was not really enamored with the layout so I went ahead and filled it.  Here is a link to a picture of the filled ball:

I was just about to drill it, but I would really like to drill in the original layout.  With the current layout the drilling would end up being pretty close to 2.5 x 4.5.  The RG on this ball is pretty low (2.499) and the differential is 0.050.

What sort of reaction do you think I will get with putting the pin so close to my pap?

well if that drilling would be a pin 2.5 pin to pap ur kinda in a bind although if u drill it 4 by 4.5 ull prolly be able to drill though one finger an most of the thumb if not all of it keeping it what are looking for an give that game a good stable reaction

Makes sense and I considered doing just that.

Though I am still curious as to what kind of reaction I would get with the short pin to pap.  If that layout could produce a reaction that may not necessarily be optimal, but could still be useful under certain conditions, I would not be adverse to trying it.

So, again, does anyone have an idea what type of reaction I could expect from this ball with a 2.5 x 4.5 layout?  Thanks in advance for your help.

Surely someone must know how a short pin to pap distance effects ball reaction.  Anyone?

If you drill it 2.5 x 4.5, it will roll early and backend less. It will flare less than 3 3/8". It''s a good layout for playing outside lines, where you don''t need to create angle or backend. Great for playing the twig. Does well on over/under conditions as it smoothes them out. As the lanes wear with play, you may start to leave soft 7''s, it''s time to put it away. Also, not for carrydown, likes dry backends and head oil. Can be used inside sometimes if there is enough head oil and dry backends. Hope this helps!
