0-1 inch pin?
« on: February 23, 2007, 03:23:00 AM »
Thankfully this isn't my ball...

I ordered a 12 lb Roto Grip Saturn for my GF and it arrived yesterday with a 1 inch pin. Is this normal for light weight balls? She's still a straight baller so it doesn't really matter but I'm just curious.

At 12# the ball has a pancake weight block.  Pin does not make any difference.

Even in 12 lbs, the core of the roto grip Planet line is a lot more than a pancake. true it is not the exact Orbiter core, it is highly modified from the picture to get the weight down 3 lbs, but it is a similar shape, just smaller in size.

Well it's punched up and she likes it. (whew) We threw 3 practice games and the Saturn performs better than the house ball she had been using. I'm pleased with my purchase.

Correct!  I was curious so I contacted Roto Grip to find out.

Thank you for the email. We use the same shape weight block in
our High Performance line 12-16 lbs. We change the densities of the
weight block and at times use different sized cores to achieve the
numbers we're looking for. In the 12-13 lb balls, mid and entry
performance, we use a modified shape that isn't as performance savvy as
others but better than a pancake.
