used the Switch Grip System??
Pros vs Cons??

I use it.
Have for a couple of years.
Use a molded thumb in mine.
Love it.
No problems.

I just started using it a couple months ago. I bought a used ball with the outer sleeve and my pro shop had the switch grips so I bought the inner for it. I then had a ball with a regular slug redrilled for it.

Pros -
Every ball will feel exactly the same bearing your finger holes or finger holes and your span is the same.

No more waiting in pro shops endlessly for the pro shop driller to get your thumb just right. You already have the thumb. All they have to do is put a 1 1/2 inch outer sleeve or the sleeve size you use in it and you’re done. It's a very simple process, pro shop drillers love it.

No more wasting a bunch of tape on a bunch of balls. The tape you use is for that one thumbhole.

Cons -

It's a little more expensive then thumb inserts and slugs.

If you’re practicing with a bunch of balls, you can no longer just grab another ball real quick to shoot a spare because you have no thumb insert in it



Other then that...it's the best thing I've ever done. In fact I'm getting another ball today done. I'm also buying a spare inner sleeve for a different size and just in case I lose the only one I got or it breaks (which is rare I hear).

Best thing since sliced bread. It's eliminated so many inherent problems with the "feel" of the ball related to thumb problems that I couldn't imagine bowling without the switch grip.

Even that said, the small amount of people that are breaking them is usually thier fault. Never grab the ball thumb first picking it up for that could make some unnessesary strain on the tabs. Other then that they will be fine. It's a fine product.

Love 'em, used them for 2-3 years in about 8 balls, had one weird one that goes in both ways, but that was the installers fault. I'm a definite fan of the concept and think Turbos are the besto of the crop (so far)...

However, I just ordered the Grip Loc system to switch over to give them a try.

Cons:
Pro shop knowledge, and therefore availability to have them done and/or changes made, is weak at best, and totally dependent upon your area. (possibly same problem for Grip Loc)..

Turbos use 1-1/2 inch drill bits, which 3 drillers have already said they can't use in their jigs (reason unknown).

I've only had one year at Nationals where I could buy a ball and find anyone on premise who could do Turbos...

I've been going to a few pro shops in my area and so far they all carry it. One just started carrying it this year. However, it is not a bad idea at all if you are skeptical in a situation where you encounter a pro shop that doesn't have them is to buy one or two outer sleeves online. When I start getting some more balls in a little bit, I plan on doing this. I'm going to keep one in my bag in case my local pro shop runs out or I'm at another pro shop that doesn't have them. There isn't a bunch of online shops that carry them but there are a few out there. Here is a good site that carries the outer sleeves for 9 bucks each, which is cheaper then the other few sites I've checked out:
