ASSISTANCE REQUEST
« on: February 22, 2007, 06:17:13 AM »
Greetings,
Just have an International Zone Express H(Brunswick)drilled and used for one game last night.  Noticed that this ball hooks too much at the back end.
Need to tame it down a little so I can use it pretty much on a drier lane.

Ball is drilled like: an inch below and to the right of ring finger

   o...o
       ..p
        ..cg
   ..0

14 lbs 4oz prior to drill, 0-1" pin, 1.08 oz top
static wt now:  1/4 side, 3/8 finger.
Polished high glossed using Master clean and hook cream paste..

What can I do to negate the extreme hook re-action and if I need an extra
hole, where do I put it? Appreciate all the help.

Thank you for any and all info you can provide.

You could knock the polish off and take it to a high-grit sheen.  That should tame the backend down and while it might not get as far downlane before making its move, it might be enough to tame it down.  2000-grit or 4000-grit.

Most Brunswicks that are polished are 400-grit plus polish.  If you just polished over the original surface with the Master stuff, you could knock all the polish off, take it up from 400-grit to 1000- or 1500-grit, then polish again.

The cg and top weight must have been badly off to end up with the statics you quote.  --  JohnP

Depending on thumb & finger size, I would venture to say the ball has over 1 oz bottom weight if starting weights are correct. That would almost certainly cause early roll. (OK, here it comes)
