Title: Awesome Flip Layout
Post by: Smokey469 on December 12, 2007, 12:30:05 AM
I need you guys' opinion on a layout for my first Morich ball, an Awesome Flip. I got this ball with low games and what I consider an odd drill for a righty, pin under middle finger, with a small weight holea little right and above the thumb. Anyway about me, I'm speed dominant(~17-18mph) and need all the help I can get in the rev department, I have little tilt, and my PAP is 5" right x 1 1/4 up. I bowl in a old wood house, with a crap oiler, so conditions are spotty at best from week to week, but usually hover around medium to medium/heavy and break down quickly. I want something pretty angular because I don't have a piece in my bag right now that is. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Where is the mass bias and CG marker located? The drilling sounds odd - could it be that the CG is way out of line between pin and MB marker? I have the impression that the former owner was not happy with the ball's reaction and tried to reduce thumb weight, to create more length and pop.

Anyway, the AFlip is a good base for an angular ball - and with your speed there should be little difficulty using it on medium to even medium-dry lanes. But I'd check the static weights on this ball - it might be that you have to completely plug it, maybe due to wrong markings. Sounds a bit fishy to me as it is, and on a strong MB ball I would make sure the basis is right and known before you punch it up for yourself.

Well I've got the ball fully plugged now, and the MB is to the right and above the thumb, as for the cg I'm not sure I'll have to check.  I just wanted some recommendations before I punched it up again...

Have you looked at the layouts on the MoRich site or at Buddiesproshop.com (look under technical, then for asymmetric layouts)?  I never stray far from the recommended layouts when dealing with strong asymmetric cores.  --  JohnP

Have one laid out by Mo..Pin -- 5" (under middle finger)from pap and 1 3/4 " above midd line x MB -- 3" from pap..weight hole 2" inside VAL to 1/4 negative...Gets down dry lanes and then makes a hard arc .Carry?... very good..Use it down the gutter  to swinging 20 board inside... It's Mo's Forward roll drilling for my profile...Go to his website and request a layout for your profile though E-Mail...Hope this helps..

Well I've found out that the previous drilling was for forward roll and a medium track player.  That drilling is listed in the Core-Tech section of Mo's site under basic forward roll drillings for vanguard cores.  For those that have access to the Core-Tech section, I was thinking about going with the Strong Midlane Asymmetrical Flip layout.  I'd like to go with the Late Break Point Asymmetrical Flip layout, I just don't know if I have enough revs for it.
