Title: Awesome Hook layout
Post by: agroves on November 20, 2007, 02:10:01 AM
I've got a customer that purchased an Awesome Hook last night.  He is going to stop by today to get it drilled.  He was bowling league last night and I went out to watch him bowl a few frames.

The first thing I noticed is; his current ball is a scout reactive.  I immediately informed him that the Awesome Hook was WAY more aggressive than what he is throwing.  He said, he was trying to throw the Scout as slow as possible to get it to hook.

So today I when he stops by, I gonna tell him to just roll the ball naturally and not worry about hitting the pocket.  I want to see what his "natural speed" will be.  He has fair fundamentals, considering he has only been bowling one season.

Right off the bat, I'm thinking the "forward roll" or "control layout" for him.  I'd probably go with the control layout and I'm gonna have to change the 500 grit surface to 2000 or higher.  Anybody have good layout for a med rev, slower speed player?

I have an awesome hook drilled with the pin above ring finger with the MB about 2" from the right of the thumb hole w/ weight hole. Im a high track player and this layout gives me a roll so I can deal with heavier oil. But with this layout the ball is very calm and doesn't over react. Im at the OOB finish. I bowl about 17-18MPH on a medium shot but if hes planning on using this for a fresh oiled league shot then this layout would work really good at about 15MPH and stay consistant, it does for me but me and him may be totally different.

I don't know really. Not that knowledgable about layouts really I do know that I have a high track and where the rings of oil all come together is about 1-2" above my finger holes. Not sure if that helps you or not.
