Axis Drill ?

I was bowling with a friend of mine and he was throwing a black ice. i pick it up the the pin is the right side of the ball and he had a weight hole the size of his tumb almost in the right thumb quadrant. He said it was his axis driling and i didnt know what that was and i forot to ask/ I threw it once and the thing never moved till 5 ft from the pins similar to my lane 1 xxxl he said its is burnt lanes ball. anyone give me some info on this drilling

Its the earliest roll layout you can get. Its for burnt heads, and or over under condition. Mostly people use that layout on dreier patters to get the ball to roll out before hitting the pins
