standard pitches?

is there a chart or something some place that shows standard finger and thumb pitches based on span?

The link below takes you to a pdf of the Jayhawk chart.  It gives thumb pitches versus spans for various thumb flexibilities.  Finger pitches are based on flexibility -- no chart that I know of.  --  JohnP

That "D" chart is about right, but not the "C" chart.  I would never give someone with a 4 1/2 span any reverse if it was there first ball.

It's just a giude. My span just happens to be 4.5". My first ball had 1/4 reverse! It was not until recently that I switched to 1/8 forward pitch. Thumb pitches for a new bowler are an educated guess. As the bowler gets a few miles under his belt, thumb pitch is something that can be finely tuned.
