Just order my Wife a new ball and it came with a strange layout.
Is the ball a belm or will it still work.
Storm Flash Point Light
Weight 10lbs 4 oz (she has a bad wrist and cant handle any more weight)
Top Weight 0.46oz ????
Pin Placement 6.5+ (this is what it reads on the box,) the pin is just about on the opposite side of the ball from the power mass.
I didn't order a belm or pay for a belm. This is just what bowling.com sent.

iceman_rls -- If you're going to order balls off the internet (I recommend buying from your pro shop), always specify a range for both top weight and pin position. I suspect you did neither, so they got rid of a ball with unusual specs. If it is a blem, it will be plainly marked on the ball somewhere, and you have a legitimate complaint with the supplier. If it's not marked blem, I would call Storm and ask what their quality specs for top weight and pin are. If the ball meets their specs, you don't really have a gripe, since you didn't specify. Before drilling it, have your driller confirm the cg location and top weight, it could be incorrect. If it's correct, the ball will end up with bottom weight, but should still be usable. -- JohnP
Added on edit: If the cg and top weight are correct, you might consider selling the ball to a youngster just starting out (to get your money back) and buy your wife another ball.

I believe (not 100% sure) that such light balls use a plain pancake core, not the normal dynamic core. As such, I am not sure what a 6.5" pin=CG distance would actually mean. I'd be very suspicious, but I don't know what it would really reflect.
.46 oz top weight would result in a drilled ball with bottom weight, which has a much larger effect on pancake core balls than those with a dynamic core.
In any case, I would not drill it. I would definitely call bowling.com and ask them some pointed questions. Both the pin distance and the top weight tell me this is, under normal circumstances and for most people, not the most desireable specifications.

will it be a helicopter ball ? some storm light weight ball is designed to be a taiwaness helicopter ball with low top weight and pin at the bottom of the ball.

PhireX -- I would never recommend ripping someone off. However, at a 10 lb weight, the youngster buying it would probably be around 7 or 8 years old. At that age, the ball makes little difference. In fact, some of our youngsters still roll the ball between their legs with two hands at that age. I would clearly explain what they were getting and give them a bargain price, but wouldn't hesitate to sell it to them. -- JohnP
