was just wondering what they are used for? i just had a cell pearl drilled up and it has one in it and was wondering why?
-
Mostly they are used to bring the static weights back inside the legal limits. They can also be used to fine tune a reaction but not very often.

does it make a ball hook more at all?
-
It can depending on the location. Some holes are "flare increasing" so that they can add to the ball's dynamics. It won't add much to the total hook, but can add a bit of mid lane and back end, as long as your release, the ball's surface, and your release all fit the lane condition.

You would probably get a better understanding by asking your pro shop guy to explain it.
