I have just purchased a ball from a lefty, a Roto-grip pure fuel.  It is set up for a lefty with pin under ring finger, cg swung left just a bit, and the mb in a strong position for him.

  I was thinking about just plugging the thumb and re-drilling.  This will leave the pin under my middle finger with the cg negative and the mb in my track.

  I am a high tracker with medium speed, about 45 degree axis rotation, and rev dominant.  Pretty much EVERYTHING hooks too much for me on our house condition except for my tornado warning pearl drilled straight up.

  The ball is currently pretty highly polished and the cover is in really good shape..

  What type of reaction, in general, can I expect from a ball set-up like this?

  Like I said, pretty much everything over hooks for me because it start hooking too early due to my axis rotation, slowish speed, and being rev dominant.  The center isn't going to change the oil volume any time soon, so I need something that will get through the heads cleanly and also not go absolutely nuts at the breakpoint, because I am also tired of leaving voracious splits one ball, washouts the next.

I think you should trade it to me. Especaill because there's a good chance your going to hit every hole on the ball.

Should be pretty smooth at the break point, and pretty good length for this ball.  If you don't flare over the middle finger, you should be fine, just have to use it on fresh conditions.  MB in track will give you continuous hook on the back end, shell will keep it from being too jumpy.  

You have to remember, you shouldn't use the grip as a reference for the layout.  It is dependent on how far the pin is from YOUR PAP, not where it is in relation to your fingers.  I have used balls drilled like this before, there is nothing wrong with it.  Throw it, it might be just what you need???

 Carl,

   The mb is going to end up about 1 inch left and below of the thumbhole, which will put it just about right in the first flare of  my track.

  The cg is going to be above the midline, albeit shifted into a negative position, and the pin would end up just below my middle finger.

  Given what I have seen from my pap ( I don't know the exact measurment of it, but I know where it is on a ball in relation to my gripping holes) this will be about a 5 1/2 X 7 drilling for me with negative sideweight from the negative cg placement, and the mb left and below my thumb just about in the first flare of my track.

O.K.,  Threw this ball for the first time last thursday night (3/22/07).  This ball is awesome for me

  WWith my release, I had to make sure to stay firm with it, but just like Mr. Austin said, it is real clean through the heads with great continuation through the deck.

  After 3/4 of a game, I actually had to move my feet RIGHT for a change ( I am righty ), but the ball continued to work all night, and after my initial adjustment, was able to play the same line all night with only minor adjustments to speed.

  Had games of 246-253-226 for a first set of 725.  Doesn't hit any holes and reads as true as anything I have thrown this season.

    Why didn't I try this sooner????????????????????????????

Nope, doesn't hit any of them (holes). After throwing it a few more sets, I am going to have to plug and re-drill though.  The left handed span is giving me tendonitis in my ring finger.

  I guess it is from the position of the holes, because the ring finger span is right, it is the middle finger that is a bit too long, so I figured if I had any trouble it would be with the middle finger, but no.

  I may just sell this and get me a new ball to drill with this set-up.  I need to clean out the closet anyway.

I have a similar drill on a ball, and it gives me a look I can't get from anything else in my bag. The drill is on an X-Factor ReLoaded. Honestly, the closest thing to it is probably my pearl urethane Slate Blue Gargoyle.

I also don't hit any holes, *IF* I keep enough tilt on the ball. If I try to go straight up the back of it, I'll clip every hole on the ball.
