ball driller crazy or what
« on: April 24, 2008, 12:05:18 PM »
my ball driller talked me into let him change my pitches in my total inferno and he says its a secret so idk what he did, but i used the pitch gauge and it read 7/8 reverse and 3/8 lateral, one thing about this the ball flies off my hand and since he changed the pitch in the fingers its really clean, but its very hard to keep the thumb snug. is it this a good thing? my reg pitch is 1/4 foward, 1/4 lateral

my ball driller isnt in his right mind, he got it in his head that if u get out the ball super fast with ur thumb at 1 oclock like all the pros do you'll be a better bowler but i highly doubt that any pro has those kind of pitches in their equipment

the most extreme grip I've ever seen on a pro is jeff carters. although I've seen a youth bowlers pitch with a 1 1/4 forward pitch with 0 side pitch

i told the guy its ridiculous the pros get out so good because there are that good, u cant use extreme pitches to get that result, and it goes against the whole thumb clock position, if ur constantly getting out at 1 oclock u cant really make any changes

that is extreme..i thought everyone is supposed to use 3/8 forward or even 1/2 if possible...that seems to be the concensus on here...

I personally use 3/8 reverse and 1/4 left lateral on my thumb.  I have a stretched fingertip grip and am right handed.

I used to use a touch shorter span and no reverse, but I stretched my span just before semi-dislocating my thumb (wrestling with a buddy of mine).  After that, I could not clear the thumbhole without a bit of reverse, not even with the shorter span, so that is where the reverse came into the game for me.

True, I do need the thumbhole to be QUITE snug to keep from losing it early, causing much callusing of my thumb, but I have become used to it and use a pumice board to keep the callusing worked down.

The pros get out of it that good because they have their balls drilled to their own specs that work for them, NOT because of some gimmicky, trick drilling.  They want to control their release, not just dump it with revs at the line due to excessive reverse in the thumb.
