Ball gurus, please help layout my equipment...
« on: December 21, 2007, 02:00:41 PM »
I REALLY need some help laying out my equipment, all of these balls are second hand and I could really use some advice on laying them out.  We really don't have what I would consider a decent Pro Shop around here, and I have all of the tools needed to layout my own equipment.  I'm familiar with Morich's dual-angle system also, and can layout by degrees as well.  First about me, I'm a right handed med speed/ med rev stroker, span 4 3/4 and 4 11/16, med axis rotation, little tilt(I stay pretty much up the back of the ball) PAP- 5" over x1 1/4" up.  Pics of the balls are here http://s188.photobucket.com/albums/z88/Smokey469/

#1 Ogre Pearl, I want this to be my first out of the bag/ benchmark ball on my league, ~40 ft. THS medium oil pattern.

#2 Roto Grip Epic Battle for nights when the oil gets heavier, and

#3 Hammer Doom for the drier nights/ burned up heads/track

I know I'm asking a lot here, but any help/advice from you ball gurus would be greatly appreciated!

I'll take a stab:

1. Pin 5" from PAP, over the fingers, MB at 75 degrees.  No hole if possible.

2. Pin 4" from PAP, even with or under fingers, MB at 105 degrees.

3. Pin 5 1/2" from PAP, over middle finger, MB at 90 degrees, no hole.

Merry Christmas!

Now that I have looked at the pictures, you could go with how they are drilled, match to your grip, and surface to desired reaction.

Happy New Year!

Thanks for the advice Mike, they all work pretty well as they are, but I think they would fit my game even better with more beneficial layouts for my stats.

Honestly, the Battle would be the better choice for a benchmark ball.  With the current layout on the Battle would be GREAT for a down and in, read the lane and not overreact ball.

The Ogre, I'd go back to the original layout.

The doom I'd leave that alone and just adjust the span.
