Ball layout question
« on: April 26, 2007, 12:34:38 PM »
Before I ask this I know there are a lot of other things to consider such as PAP. But, in very general terms, what ball reaction would you anticipate if the pin is above the ring finger and the cg stacked about 3 inches directly below? I would appreciate any help you can offer.

Many other things come to play, but, as a rule of thumb....pins above will give the ball more length . Generally.

It really depends in the PAP, since it is the relative point of orientation for pin and mass bias/CG placement. For a high track player, this is a quite strong layout which should yield good length and a rather sharp breakpoint - good for a polished ball on medium conditions. But if you have a low track, the result will be much different, with a much tamer back end.
