What reaction can be expected by placing the MB towards grip center versus over towards the PAP?

As the MB approaches the VAL (and PAP) the more arc in the reaction. The further from PAP, the less arc (more angle)

Im so glad people are brainwashed to thinking that if they buy a new ball they will carry everything. And its even funnier when im carrying with my 15 year old ball and they're going flat ten.

Putting the main pin beyond the VAL and/or beyond the track creates reverse flare.  Putting the MB beyond the VAL doesn't have that effect.
