layout reaction rip on heavy oil
« on: October 23, 2003, 01:49:25 AM »
hi,

i would like to drill my reaction rip for a 42 feet pattern with heavy oil.
the ball should hook as much as possible. i´m a high track player with the finger´s at 5 o´clock under the ball.

what do you think about it. please draw your opinion.

would this layout work good for me?

I think Plus40 is trying to tell you that you have the wrong ball and drill pattern for the condition.

As I recall the Rip is a shiney pealized ball for drying condtions.

The drill pattern is for length and backend finish.

You may not get any roll with that ball, drill pattern and oil condition.

You need to get a differnt ball and drill pattern for heavy oil

hi,

i use a jekyll and a hyde. they work great on that condition. when i take a look to the columbia300 webside and compare the balls, the rip should have more backendpotential than the hyde.
but the hyde with a backend of only 39 hooks much more than may v2 strong or an x-factor deuce.
i don´t want to use a particle ball and i love the old columbia balls. wich ball woould you advise me?
i want it to complete my arsenal. if the hyde don´t hook on extrem heavy oil the new ball should do it.

wolf, you can keep the same pin and CG angle, but move the pin down under the ring finger. This will start the ball up sooner, hooking more on oil. =:^D

t-god,
i´ve drilled a columbia-ball with the pin under the ring finger. the problem is, that the track clipped the fingerhole. (it was a wicked)
could there be the same problem with the rip?

wolf, you could have the same problem with the Rip. Instead of below the ring finger, shift everything so that the pin is level and just to the right of the ring finger. This will avoid clipping the middle finger. =:^D
