Layout Help Please / Slower Speed
« on: November 15, 2013, 02:08:38 PM »
I would like dual angle layout help for 15# Cobra SE

14 MPH
20 Degree Tilt
60 Degree Axis Rotation
250 Rev Rate

With my limited knowledge I was thinking 90x5x70.....Thinking I could play farther right. I do not want to end up with a boat anchor. Bowling on 15 year old synthetics 40 foot 10-10 house shot. Suggestions?

I bpel on 15 year oild brunswick synthetics so there is friction. My Cobra se. is drilled 60x5x40 and polished. It gives me good push through the fronts with a nice controlled arx on the back and good continuation through the pins. My ball speed is 13-14 tilt 9 axis rotation 45-609 Depending on release) 300-325 rpm. Hope this helps

We sound close in specs........I do not have anything drilled with high VAL angles and was wondering how that would react. What line do you play for comparison?

High VAL smooths things out. If you are slow and rev dominate. I'd go long pin to pap and high val angle. Isn't the Cobra symetrical? If so the drill angke doesn't matter

I start the night out usually playing 12-7-8 and migrate deeper till I flat 10, Then I ball down to my GT-1 with the sme layout or my Nighthawk Pearl

If I could play that far right I would be in heaven. I am leaning towards 60x5x60. Do you think that is to much val angle? You are using quite a bit less. My Sigma Tour is 60x5x25 with the pin above the ring finger at about 1 oclock and I am forced to play more on the oil line. If I go deeper the ball seems to quit and the continuation is labored. Am I correct in assuming the with the 25 val angle the quicker second transition is to early? Maybe you are right and the 40 would be a better choice.

My Sigma Tour is 45x5x35 @ 2k  + polish. In the center I use my Cobra in to throw the Sigma Tour I'm easily an arrow left with a breakpoint about 10It's way too much ball to be consistant with there

As a ball driller myself, i have to disagree with everyone here who has been recommending 5" pin to paps on his sym cobra....  His speed is actually more dominant than his revrate, especially when u factor in his high tilt and medium high axis rotation, these two things are going to add length thus can be thought of as increased speed.   I would strongly say to go with a low ratio, although on a sym the thumbhole will be the psa, but anice size/deep hole 2" down your val, from your midline will help decrease this drilling angle.  And a 60-50 degree val angle with a pin distance no more than 3 3/8. Which would be great since the cobra has a very low differential to start with.  But i also like the idea of a 2.75" pin

Trust me.... 5" pins are specifically meant for those with a lot of hand andf roll looking to preserve the little bit of tilt that they initially have.
