Well that's so cool! First off I'd like to wish you good luck!
Initial thoughts on patterns: This shorter one reminds me of the Cheetah: lots of volume, short in length. I can see you playing or swinging out towards the ditch, but as the oil moves down you'll probably move right before you move left. The longer pattern has the same volume as the shorter, so that one will probably break down faster than the shorter one. I see that playing sort of like the Shark, more towards the center of the lane until it opens up.
As for layouts, 2 balls per pattern, eh?
Shorter pattern:
Ball 1: I'd do this one pin up, 5 inches pin to PAP. Get you the length you need with a bite in the back. I'd actually put the pin close to your VAL.
Ball 2: I'd actually do a weaker ball with a pin on axis drill. If the lanes are flying way too much, this will smooth out anything wrong. Maybe a Pluto, Blue Vibe or Emerald Vibe, or even that new Hammer Rayzr.
Longer pattern:
Ball 1: Solid, pin down, 4.5 pin to PAP. Help get into an earlier roll, and this ball will help combat carry down when that happens.
Ball 2: Same ball, polished, or a pearly/shiny ball, pin up with a 4.5 inch pin to PAP. Help you get some length when the lanes break down, or if you need more movement in the back part of the lane.
I hope this helps slightly! And good luck in the tournament!
