Best basic drilling for slow speed

For a person with slower speed and low revs, would a drilling of 3 3/8" from the pap be a good basic drilling for maximum hook?  Then if more or less distance is needed (for wet or dry conditions), could you not just adjust the coverstock?

IMHO I would go 4.5 to 5 inches so the ball doesnt burn up by midlane. I like to recommend a pin high layout for these bowlers. Works very well for the folks around here.

I have a med, med-low ball speed. The higher pin layout gives a better ball path for me. But my XXX is around 3 3/8", 2000grit and it works fine.

I throw slower speed with low revs as well.  I tend to like drillings with the pin around 3", it gives me some room to be a bit more versatile with the ball, but also allows it get the hook I need for low revs.  That being said, I agree, the higher pin is definitely a good idea here.
