Best drill press
« on: February 17, 2009, 07:19:24 AM »
I'm trying to set up a drill press in my home.  Everything I read says you need a press with at least 5" of spindle travel, but almost every press i look at is in the 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 range.  Am I missing something?  It dosen't seem like it should be that big of an issue.  What presses do you guys with home shops use?

Thanks

Quill travel will only need to be a bit more than the depth of a slug. Most are in the 5" range. The height from the table to the bottom of the quill is whats important so you have enough room to get a ball in a jig.

Innovative uses the Jet JMD18pfn I beleive
