It's really called "Pin in the Palm" and it's very popular on tour. Great layout for the guys that get on it for house shots. Makes the dry tolerable.

Ive actually found this layout to work well on house shots. Rolls in the oil and is smooth off the dry. i this layout on 3 balls.

For some people....I have a ball with this on it and it never sees the house shot.  I can't get it to kick out a 10 pin when there is that much wet/dry.

i bought a morich achron (ravage)and was wanting to try either this rico layout or the pin axis layout to somewhat smooth the reaction of this ball out. i already have two balls that go long and sharp (radical inferno, monster frenzy). would i just totally ruin the achron by doing a control drilling like this?

I tried the Rico layout on a Roto Grip Apocolypse and with my slower ball speed and high rev rate the apoc was way to strong on a THS I ended up giving it to a friend with no hand and alot of ball speed and he loved the reaction it gave him

With Mo balls it is sometimes best to follow the drill sheet.  His cores are very dynamic and sometimes act very adversely to conventional layouts.

I Rico'd an Original Inferno and I still use it at tournaments....I would be very hesitant to try it on a Mo ball though.

yea russell, you've probley right. i understand on morichs drill sheet the control and sharp backend, but what is forward roll? what would a forward roll do for a guy who throws 14-15mph, cracker-tweener, medium low track?

Please lock this already. Make this drilling part of the FAQ just to stop people from posting it already. It's useful maybe 5 out of 1000 times. Yikes!

High rev players with 45 degree or less axis rotation will generally see quite a smooth reaction with the layout, but I have used pin in palm layouts to increase backend reaction on people with lots of tilt and side roll, with a lower track. Some weaker pearls can also be made to have an incredible backend reaction with a pin in palm. Putting a "rico" layout on something like a punisher or a rampage for someone that can clear dry heads with tilt/sideroll/speed/loft and you will see a massive snap once the core starts flaring.

I've seen this with my experiences with this layout on a Punisher and Absolute. Actually, I would go as far as to say that this layout enhances characteristics of the ball.
