Best MoTion Hole candidates?
« on: August 26, 2013, 03:41:29 AM »
I've converted roughly 15 balls to include a MoHole in them. Ranges from Pearl-Solids, Asm-Sym, older to newer releases. I must say the most notable changes occur when using older Symmetrical balls. The newer releases didn't have the noticeable differences experienced from older releases. The greatest change in ball dynamics was on the Combat Zone Tracer, Wild Card, and Red Alien. I suspect the MoHole greatly benefits balls with smaller size cores. Any thoughts on this?

Been out of the game a little, but from what I remember, this mohole is just making a sym ball an asym ball.

Sym balls have a little bit of asym in them after they are drilled 9not much).  I am guessing that the mohole just increases this.

Just my slightly educated guess.

I moholed an IQ tour pearl, and from trying the benchmark layout to playing it so an amazing increase in length and hook. Thought this ball would work for medium oil perfectly, it works amazing for heavy oil in sports patterns and works insanely well on the inside lines in medium. Mohole is serious business, wouldnt do it on stronger equipment, I would do it on only symmetrical and probably make it work a level higher than what they recommend (IE if ball says light to medium its clearly a medium ball with mohole)

The Motion Hole as released so far is for symmetrical balls, research is still being done on optimum applicability to asymmetrical balls.  The Radical Yeti is specifically designed to suit the Motion Hole.  Other than that, Mo has said that it works better on simpler cores.  --  JohnP

As for the observation about making a medium condition ball into a medium-heavy condition ball, that is going to vary from bowler to bowler.  The more speed dominant bowlers will probably not notice as large of a difference in oil handling capability and may benefit from using more aggressive covers than another, more evenly matched, bowler...

Simpler meaning smaller cores? Tried the MoHole on a multitude of Asymmetrical balls at 11in from the pin (vs 10in on a Symmetrical ball). The most notable increase in performance was on a Storm SYNC. The others had slight improvements in ball dynamics but not as noticeable when compared to Symmetrical balls. Also someone pointed out that high speed bowlers would have different varied successes with a MoHole when compared to low rev players. Absolutely true. What may work for me may not work as well for another. Im just posting what works for me. I do work with at least 10 others that i converted to using MoHoles and everyone that tried it had varying degrees of success. All agree that a Motion Hole has helped their game. So far i haven't tried putting this on my IQ Tour as it's perfect the way it is. Also my Yeti became a hooking machine when a 7/8in MoHole at 4in was added. Hope others here will benefit from these suggestions.

Simpler meaning cores that look like they could be turned on a lathe.  Like the core from the Torrid, not like the core from the Torrid Elite...

I have a Track 706A that I'm thinking of plugging. Think it would be a good candidate?  Small simple symmetrical core.

I think the 706A would be a good candidate for the MOtion hole.  I drilled a 607A SE with a MOtion hole, and I really like the ball motion.  With the low intermediate differential, treat it like a symmetrical.
