Rico Drill

Do you need to have a ball inside a specific RG rating, to be able to put the rico drill on a ball. Let me know. I am thinking of putting the drill on a radical inferno or a smoking inferno. Let me know thanks everyone.

I was wondering the same thing myself.  I also wondered what type of coverstock is preferred.  Weak vs. strong and pearl vs solid etc..

The core should be asymetrical. Because the rico drill is to make a asymetrical ball roll more like a symetrical.

I've found that this layout works great on strong pearls.  It smoothes out the conditions front to back and makes most balls I've used it on great tournament pieces.  It allows the user to clear the heads, read midlane, and control the break point, creating room downlane on tight conditions.

I've used on Dynothane Au79, Roto-Grip Horizon Pearl and Brunswick Absolute Inferno with great success.

If you have a high track you may want to modify it by moving the pin vertically an equal distance as your PAP's vertical measurement to help clear the fingers.  If your PAP measurement is 1/2 up then place the pin 1/2 up from grip center as well.

It can work on almost any ball for any bowler. That ball, the bowler's release and the condition are always the most important factors, as per usual.

You actually have that reversed... it makes symmetrical balls more asymmetrical.  I did a modified RICO with a Tropical Storm (more asymmetric than anything Lane #1 has created, I believe) and I think I removed most of it's hook potential on anything but light/short oil.

I think his post was about a specific RG rating for a rico drill...not your personal feelings for what he has accomplished.

As for your post big fish...I rico'd a V2 clean and the only difference I noticed was that the bowtie was lower on the ball and that oil rings were closer together. As well as a smoother reaction on the lane.

I'm wondering the same thing.  Is there a pin to CG length, top weight, etc that is better to use?

I have a Track Slash with a 1.5-2" pin that is plugged and ready to re-drill.  I'm thinking about trying the RICO drill on it.

I also have a Track Thrash with a 3" pin, a couple of Circle (Full Tilt and High Voltage), and an AMF Heist with a 0" pin.

Are any of those better suited for the RICO than the others?
