Best review ever!
« on: July 16, 2004, 10:34:13 AM »
The following referenced review is the answer to the Jeopardy
formed question, "What is the best ball review ever?"

http://www.ballreviews.com/Reviews/Reviews.asp?ManufacterID=11&BallID=499&ReviewID=20558
(oooooops, AW MAN!)

WHY, because it relates rev rate, differential and pin position in to an understandable whole and basically if read carefully will lead bowlers to drillling their stuff correctly.

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS the old axiom, drill your weak stuff strong and strong stuff weak usually applies, except for extreme conditions!

I like EXCALIBER's reviews. Very well written and thorough, as a rule.

Strider,

That IS a great review!

I posted this post under the drilling Forum because I meant review I titled Best review ever teaches how to drill balls based on differential!

This is the area where it is the best review ever.  In it's application to drilling.

Gotcha LL.

I was wondering why you had it in the drilling section.  I only glanced at your post and the review earlier.  He makes an interesting point.  I might have to redrill my Element similarly.  I was going to sell or trade it, but a big drill change might be worth the experiment.  I only have medium revs, but I don't seem to match up with high flaring balls either.  Right now, it's way too early for medium conditions, but doesn't have enough bite for heavier oil.

This is the area I didn't like because there was no explanation or mention about how no matter what the drill, the ball can still only do what the cover allows it to do. I am, of course, not saying the advice was wrong, because it worked. However, there is just no mention of something to the effect, "Once we made sure there's enough oil for this aggressive coverstock (the Monsoon) to clear the heads ...".

Yes, too much flare produced by the pin being too close to the bowler's axis point will make the ball try to grab the lane too soon.

My point is there are many factors at work here. Ignoring any one can ruin a ball. One can only think about the RG Differential, once you know the ball is appropriate for the oil pattern and the bowler's release. Only then can you start playing with pin positions, and MB placements.

Still love the concepts communicated in this review.

Cores must match up with rev rate, drilling and lane surface used on!

Basic theory is still to cover wide ranges of conditions.
Drill weak balls stronger and strong balls weaker!
