Hey everyone I am trying to learn more about layout my own equipment, and wanted to find the best place to learn how to do this. I don't really have the money to take the pro shop classes and my pro shop is about 35 mins away so that isn't really an easy place to get to to learn. Would you guys suggests just going to all the ball companies and looking at there drill sheets, or is it possible that there is some book or videos on how to do this. Thanks for all the help.

Well you can always look at the specs sheets that come with the equipment when purchased. That will give you an idea of what different types of lay outs there are.
I just bought a Hammer 4D and the specs sheet gives info on how big and deep weight holes should be to remove certain amounts of weights, which I found interesting.
As far as actually drilling your own stuff, there are books out there, but apparently the good ones are pretty expensive. I saw one I had thought about purchasing, and it was well over $100.
If you happen to find anything let me know, because I would like to attempt to drill one of my own pieces just to see what happens

I learned a TON about drilling just by studying and experimenting with the 8 or so layouts Ebonite provides with their two-piece symmetrical balls. I have never been formally trained, but through research plus trial and error I have gained a great deal of knowledge. I have drilled balls for the other guys in the shop and they were pretty impressed with the results.

If you are just learning, there is a great book by Chip Zielke called Revolutions 2. It will teach you all the basics of modern layouts as well as some great info on surface adjustments.
