A lot of pros do not bevel the thumb holes.  How does that not tear up the base of the thumb?  Do they use really short spans for their hands?

I remember when I went to the 1975 ABC Nationals in Dayton, they had a display of professional bowlers' bowling balls.  The thing I noticed right off was how little bevel, if any, most of them had.
