Lateral Finger Pitches
« on: March 16, 2005, 03:38:35 PM »
I am seeing often now people using more various finger pitches.

often they claim done to increase rev rates, or change roll, ie more side roll or more under the ball.

usually for a customer standard is 3/8th and 3/8th for someone with inserts, and if they have trouble with there middle finger in the knuckles something like 1/4 and 1/2 often.

for no inserts, finger tip i use often something like 1/4 and 1/2 for myself, but i had a person come in with 5/8 and 3/8 on no inserts.

i don't have my IBPSIA book with me around, but is there any limits? such as what is safe for a person's fingers?

and lateral adjustments to change roll, can anyone give examples of them please?

i already know about horizontal changes such as under and more reverse.

just wondering

TheDude -- Per Bill Taylor's classic book, lateral finger pitches are strictly (1) to avoid having the holes come together at the bottom, and (2) for the comfort of the customer.  I try to maintain at least a 3/4" difference between the pitches, normally use 1/4 L and 5/8 R.  --  JohnP
