boom layout
« on: October 12, 2009, 03:53:28 PM »
first a little bout myself
my ball speed is any where from 17 to 20
i got a high rev rate
my pap is 6 over and 1/4 up

so what kind of reaction could i expect from boom drilled with the pin and cg both 1 1/2"  from my pap with a weighthole on pap do bring back static weights

I actaully have a Boom drilled very similar to this. Mine is 1" from the PAP and the CG is 1" past the VAL with a 1 1/8" hole stright over from the center of the grip. the hole is pitched 1" away from the center of the grip and 3 1/2" deep

This drilling allows the ball to start up very early and be controlled on the backend of the lane. By pushing the CG past the VAL this creates more side weight and the need for a larger hole. With the large hole pitched it creates more Diff. in the ball and allows it to finish well in the pocket without placking.

My ball speed is about 18.5 - 19 off my hand and I have a rev rate of 375 to 400. PAP is 5" over 1/4" up. Axis Tilt of 17°

Yup - very rolly and tame layout, a good choice to blend out over/under reactions. With higher speed and revs, this should work for you.

I have a Black Sparkle Power Groove (particle cover, polished) with a simlar layout, and I like the tame reaction of the ball. But because of the early roll tendency, I have (an can) play this ball with authority, and it still will not overreact. Condition-specific for me, but if you wnat a tame, arcing ball, this can be a good solution for a high rev/higher speed player.
