Bounty Drilling Help Needed

I picked this up for a good price and didn't realize how far off the cg was from the centerline.  I normally throw 15 and I picked this 16 up to because it was such a good deal.  I'm right handed so it's not nearly as bad, but I need a layout for this thing.  I'm looking for as strong of a reaction as possible.  This will definitely test the cgnomatta argument when looking at this.  It's a 2 3/4" top weight and I don't mind weight holes.  Any help or pointers are greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

I would first put the ball on the scale to verify the position of the cg.  This should only take a couple minutes and gives a little assurance.  IF the cg weighs out to be correctly marked, the ball is set up for a strong reaction.  Figure out your PAP location, put a 4 X 4 layout on the ball with the cg near the midline.  This should give a strong midlane reaction.

I think this will put the mass bias way right of my thumb.  I assume thats ok?  Would it be better to put the mass bias closer to my thumb and do a 3x5 type drilling?  I think this is what Rick is describing.  I wonder what the reaction difference would be between these two layouts...

Definitely check the cg location and top weight.  Then forget about the cg and lay the ball out as you like using the pin and mb (and on a ball with a marked mb 4 x 4 is pin to PAP and pin to mb).  When you get it layed out, estimate what the final static weights will be and decide if you need to drill the thumb or finger hole(s) extra deep.  Then weigh the ball to see if it needs a balance hole to make it legal.  If you have to, it's OK to put a balance hole on the negative side of the ball, just be sure you locate it where your track flare won't hit it.  --  JohnP

Great,  Thanks for all your help! I'll post a follow up with a picture of the drilling when finished.  Hope it works out, but you can't lose for $40

definitely double check the cg by weighing it up and if you can get the ball spun to check the mb I would do that too..

I drilled it up with the cg under my middle finger and pin under my ring with the mass bias right of my thumb about 2 inches.  Ball reads mids great with a strong arc to the pocket..The hit is amazing with this ball.  I didn't leave a single corner pin and balls that "should" have left 10 pins carried every one.  I wasn't sure if it had anything to do with the ball being 16 and I always throw 15, but I think not.  I shot 780 with it.  BTW, I started with polish on it...You'll probably want to do that.
