Title: BR virus problems?
Post by: JohnP on April 28, 2006, 03:26:33 AM
Normally I would post this type of question on the Miscellaneous board, but every time I've tried to access it today and yesterday, my Norton Antivirus has prevented access and given me a message that it intercepted a worm type of virus.  Anyone else having this type of problem, and how can we get it fixed?  I'm not getting this reaction from Norton on any of the other sites I frequent, but I did get it today on one of the posts (the one on which is more effective on oil) on this board.  --  JohnP

I also picked up a puper.dll today from Mcafee but I can't personally say it came from here.

I hadn't noticed anything.. I have Symantic anti-virus and windows defender installed... but I'm also working from behind a university firewall...so that may have something to do with it.

Hey John,

If you know the name of the worm, go to Symantec site and see if they have a removal tool for it (free).  If not, post a question to their tech support for removal steps.

Symantec has been having all sorts of problems the last 6 months that run the gamut of troubles and headaches for the user. I changed to another AV program and have not had any problems. If you are running on your own system I'd change ASAP if not I'd say that the I.T. folks are attempting to police web activity on their servers. Unfortunately it's the institutions choice to limit activity in and out. I've been coming here for 3 years and never had any problems with any virus or spyware what so ever.

I've been using Symantic for two years and have not had any problems.
