With "tons" of games on the ball, it very well could be dying. The resurfacing should have restored some of the reaction. You increase in speed certainly has an effect on the hook.
I would consider buying a new ball. In my area the charge to plug and redrill is about $55. When you consider the cost of this on a dying ball, one wonders if it is worth it. Drilling it stronger may only increase the hook marginally.
I would save the ball for drier lanes and drill up a new ball.
