urethane type of reaction on a reactive ball?
« on: June 14, 2007, 05:30:50 AM »
I have a scout high flare urethane ball which I like a lot.  I love the urethane type of reaction.

What kind of layout could I use on a reactive type of ball to get the same type of reaction that a urethane ball gives?

The only layout I can think that  may be what i'm looking for is a pin axis type of layout.  Do you guys feel i'm on the right track with this thinking?

chi,

When I was really cranking the ball, the only drilling I could use successfully was a pin-axis layout with a black PURE Hammer and a Sling Blade. You're on the right track, but you'll also need to use a mid-lower differential ball (0.040 and lower).

Basically, you just need to tighten the track flare and prep the surface so it burns up a little so it won't read the backend and snap.

I have a pin axis drilling on a Solution Power Plus.  It will definitely allow for more control but is almost too conditional for me to carry around.

I have a Mammoth with the pin above middle finger cg below ring finger and 2000 abralon on the cover. Ball rolls like a real smooth but strong urethane. I have high speed med/high revs and the ball is money for me.

He asked for reactive so I left out particle covers. I would have said that otherwise. Personally, particle pearls have the smoothest reactions for me.

Chi,
If you can get hold of a Track Animal.
I know you liked the Animals.

Drill it pin axis, like the one I used to throw.
If you remember, it had a rolling urethane reaction on any lane condition.
Wish I still had it.

This is a interesting topic Chitown. I've been in search of the same reaction that you have discribed. Especialy since I've been bowling in a PBA experience league summer where the backend always seems to be strong. The suggestion that I got was to put the pin in the palm of a ball with medium to low differential. It would also be good to put it on a particle/particle pearl ball. Let me know what you come up with. I would like to have something drilled before I go to the lilac tournament in rodchester. 2cents

My Pain drilled Rico is pretty good at giving me that same type of reaction. I think a Blue Vibe might be even better because of the lower RG

Thanks for the reply's.  I'm going to try out a pin axis type of layout and see how it works.  I'm still up in the air with which ball i'm going to try this with.  A particle pearl maybe better than a reactive for this type of ball motion.

Why would you want to do this when you can still buy a Visionary Slate Blue Gargoyle???  Go to allstarbowling.com and check them out.  --  JohnP
