I just bought a Track Freak-A-Zoid blem and it's got a 3.5" PIN and 4 3/4oz TOP WEIGHT.
If I put a regular 5 x 5 or 4 x 4 drilling on this ball, what will it do as compared to the same ball with a more reasonable TOP WEIGHT?
Is this ball crap or can this high top weight be a good thing?
I want the ball to get medium length and have a controlled backend almost a hard arc I guess.

i had a fuel with 4.88 top
i drilled thumb about 1/2 deeper and finger 3/4 deeper
took some of the extra out
was my best rolling ball(won lots $$) with it
i had it drilled 5 x 4
also put weight hole only 4 inches over(took a little more top off)

Ric,
The ball will get down the lane better. This is one of the things some guys on tour use to drill stronger equipmnet for the show. They drill a more aggressive ball with more top weight and drill it weak. I remember reading somewhere that there is a particular touring player that does not drill a ball with anything less than 4oz. of top weight.
I definitely think you can get the desired reaction out of this ball. I have a V2 that has 4 1/4oz. of top and I have it drilled 4 1/2 x 3 1/2 with a large deep weight hole just below my axis. I get good length with a controlled backend. This has been my favorite ball of all time. Play around with the layout before you drill and I think you will be pleasently surprised with the end result.

I agree, slight kick outs with weightholes can make these balls get easy length with the remaining top weight and you can either setup for BIG backend reaction or less depending on where and how big weighthole is!

LL, my friend is now wanting this ball so i'm gonna sell it to him... so how would you drill this ball for a guy that's got a PAP of 5 3/8" over by 5/8 up. Higher track. He says he wants length and as much backend as possible? Something that will come back from inside.
How would you drill it?
You can message me or reply here.

Ric Clint -- LL himself is the expert on this subject (see the thread on "where to find all the drilling information"). I'd ask him. -- JohnP
