Some random thoughts:
Not really surprising (that the shape was banana-like) is my guess.
The Rush is an arc-y ball; pin-in balls also make balls go into a roll sooner, making them more arc-y in the appearance of their ball path. Placing the pin/CG above the ring finger hole/bridge area, raises the apparent/drilled RG of the ball, making it go longer, which is not a bad thing for the Rush, generally considered a medium-heavy oil ball.
