carrydown...
« on: May 07, 2007, 07:28:19 AM »
recently i was bowling on the viper pattern and after about the fourth game i started leaving alot of weak 10's. so i made a move. still my ball wouldnt make the flip in the backend because of the oil that was pushed down. today i got a shift for free. what are some good layouts for carrydown and that will get my ball moving in the back part of the lane?

I am with Deadbait abiut this issue. If you really face carrydown, it is much easier (ansd IMHO smarter) just to move to a different line to avoid carrydown - if this is really the case.

With the very aggressive coverstocks around I frequently witness dead balls after a couple of games - but they simply burn out in lack of oil and hit weak. No carrydown issue at all, just too much ball and stubborn users.
On the other side, a frequent 10 pin is the result of an entry angle problem. Again, moving your feet slightly towards the foul line or away should improve carry without much overall change. The weak 10 pin could also stem from a ball that lost its energy too early, see above.

For me, playing on a line closer to the gutter normally does the job well, moving feet and target on the lane, and it will get me through a block before I have to change equipment etc.
