CG difference
« on: December 29, 2007, 01:55:24 PM »
It has been argued () that the cgdontmadda, but if I drill one ball 4x4 and another 4 x 6, my PAP will move, so the fingers will be in different spots.  When you look at the ball, the pin would be in different places i nrelation to your fingers.  How big is the difference there?

No, only the cg would move.  The pin would stay in the same position.

The pin can move...  That's the problem with labeling a layout just 4x6 or 4x4.  It doesn't account for pin to VAL distance, or distance above the midline.

Well sure...the pin COULD move, but just going from 4X4 to 4X6 doesn't mean the pin HAS to move.  In the context of this question, going from 4X4 to 4X6 could mean only moving the CG.

For the sake of this discussion, let's say it's a symmetrical ball.

My layout has the pin 4" from my PAP and the CG 4" from the PAP.  The pin is 3" above my grip center.

If I had a second layout with the pin 4" from my PAP and the CG 6" from my PAP (the pin still 3" above my grip center), that would look different.  If the cgnomadda, will the reaction change?

If this boggles you too much, try drawing it out with a pencil and paper (to scale).  Use a compass and a ruler.   Make a 6 3/4" line, you get the rest.

From that example...I think you see that the pin will not move?  Hence, the reaction will be almost identical, because only the cg is moving.
