I don't want to get technical, but....
« on: March 14, 2014, 12:02:21 PM »
I'm just curious about tilt and layout.

I normally have a low tilt (below 10*) with medium rotation @  around 65* range. I recently worked on increasing my tilt the other day and I just wanted to know if my flare/track lines could tell me I'm doing it right.

I normally track close to thumb hole (1") and about an inch or so to the fingers.  When working on increasing tilt, the first track line is about 2" or so away visually from the fingers and a tad closer to the thumb hole.

Also, a friend asked me this question yesterday. If I had my ball drilled because of my tilt, for example, my main THS ball is a Storm Breeze is drilled with a long pin to pap @ 5.75" (1.25" above my middle finger CG close to midline), does it change the PAP and/or layout when I go from low tilt to higher tilt/rotation?

I don't want to concern myself and get into deep - my mental/physical game needs more attention than a ball drilled a certain way. Heck, I can stike with a pan cake core. But, it's just for fun and it got me curious after texting a friend from another state.

You can determine your tilt by measuring your track diameter.

If your PAP has changed, your current drilling will provide a different reaction than before.  Not sure how much different, especially with a Breeze.  But it could make a larger difference with stronger cores.

I should clarify, the day I was working on my tilt, I used two other balls. Vivid and CrossRoad.

Sounds like you are moving in the right direction.  Your specs sound a lot like mine, low tilt and higher rotation.  By working at coming around the ball more, your flare rings should move away from your fingers and thumb, in effect decreasing the diameter of the flare rings and thus increasing your tilt.

So......based on the chart that I just looked at.......what type drillings reduce Axis tilt? What type drillings increase Axis tilt?
Some days you're the bug....some days you're the windshield...that's bowling!

I'm not a drill guru, but longer pin to pap helps retain axis tilt.

Surface effects the energy bleed more than anything...your body & hand dictate a majority of the variables that dictate how the ball naturally wants to release...incl gravity & momentum...and varying these generally is minimal without possible damage incurred to the body

James we discussed this during the classroom portion of our camp

I missed out on Sunday...just couldn't make it that day.

I was going to say surface does the trick too, but hesitated.

(Btw, was there hair tips given too?)  :P
