What would be a good control drilling for a storm spitfire. Bowlers pap is about 5 ove and 1 inch up what pin to pap and pap to imaginery mass bias and what val should I use. Thanks

86 camaroman, as you start drilling more and more and with the help of the internet. Get a hold of drill sheets from different ball companies and study them. It's always nice to have a hard copy guide at your hand. Being the ball is symmetrical you could go with a 4 x 4, or dual angle 45 x 45. Pay attention to what the customer already has that also helps in drilling new equipment.

Yeah going to screw some more balls up. Also I have looked at all the drill sheets have alot from morich storm ebonite hammer the ones that came with these balls are super generic. The spitfire does look like a great ball especially in the hands of norm duke. but then again anything looks good when he throws it. a 4x4 is pretty strong drilling If you look at all the balls he has everything is drilled the same pin slightly above and beside ring finger with mb right below thumb. I was just trying to find insight and some suggestions didnt want any trash talking. The bowler has slow speed around 13 14 mph prolly average rev rate puts alot of side roll on it.

If it helps, here's the nature of the Spit Fire:
Not as skid-snap as the Fired Up, but still not too rolly. Needs some friction, but not too much. Medium RG core, so it does get down the lane pretty well, don't put too weak of a drill on it.

If you want control and risk nothing, drill it label. Put the CG in the palm and move it 0.5" towards the PAP, and place the pin whereever it ends up in a 1-2 o'clock position from the CG, depending on the pin distance. With a 3-4" pin, you might end up with the pin next to or slightly above the ring finger hole, in a strong position (between leverage and 4"). The result is a strong mid lane movement but a tame and controllable back end, very good for a speed-dominant player. If the player is rev-dominant, this might end up with a hook/set reaction, then IMHO a stacked pin/CG placement would be better.

The bowler has very low ball speed. so is not speed dominant. Prolly rev dominant pretty much all his balls roll out on him. All his other balls are drilled with the pin at 1 oclock was wanting to do something a little different.

Try 5 1/2" pin to PAP with the cg kicked right enough to give 1/2 - 3/4 oz of side weight in case you decide to try a balance hole after you see the reaction he gets. -- JohnP
