I just had a ball drilled and wanted a better thumb fitting. the pitches are ok but because of weight loss and improving skills my thumb hole was a little loose, even with the magic carpet tape.

My new driller can oval on his drill press. what a difference. we dropped 3 drill sizes and I think one more will do it on the next ball. after the oval he put the bevel on and one tweak it was good to go!. My thumb beveling is a marathon experience to get it right for me, normally.

In my quest for a perfect fit, I have fallen in love with the CLT drilling. Now a sweet fitting thumb has been added. next is an experiment on putting forward pitch on my fingers.

If you have never tried an oval thumb you don't know what your missing.


I don't know if there is a fitting system based completely on the more  natural hand configuration but with a CLT system; Proper span; proper thumb pitches drilled with a proper oval angle; and Fingers, the release could not feel any better. it's like the ball isn't there.


My excuses list just became shorter. No span/drilling/thumb excuses.

as a side note to my rambling. I prefer no finger grips with a clt. it just fits better with the finger that much closer. also  I can feel the finger pitches better ensuring that my hand is lined up in the ball.
