Crush/R(yes, that says Crush/R!!)
« on: October 26, 2003, 04:22:01 PM »
Ok, I'm plugging and redrilling my old Crush/R and am redrilling on a fresh part of the ball(3x3 stack if you really want to know) Ok, my question is,does drilling the old holes bigger and plugging them 'glue' the seperated core back together, plus has anyone ever used a Crush/R without the core seperating after a while? And should i drill slower than normal to stop the bit from breaking through the soft inner shell too quickly, which i suspect could cause the hole to be drilled crooked, or crack the ball there and then?

AdrianS,

A trick Ive seen my ball driller did was to put plugging compound in the thumb hole and put a vacuum hose on the finger holes. When the compound can be seen in the finger holes, it is assumes that the plugging compound have filled the void of the loose core. Seem to work though.

Suggest you do it first before drilling your new holes.

I remember reading about that trick somewhere else(prob PBA board) Fingers are already plugged, so maybe i'll see some plug material in the 'empty' thumbhole when i look at it in an hour or so.

You will need at least one more hole, that way the plugging material will be able to push the air out of the void.

The other hole (the old thumb) is still waiting to get plugged, I'm just stuck until my local shop gets some more plug dams ordered in. Unless you're talking about some kind of vent hole of course.

You just need another hole so the air can escape, up by where finger holes might be located, or vent hole if it will allow the plug to flow around the core.
