The most accurate way to find your PAP is to roll a low flare ball down the center of the lane where the highest amount of oil is and then take a grease pencil and trace your oil track. Then place the ball in a spinner or any other apparatus that allows you to spin the ball, position the ball to where the trace you made appears to stay stationary while the ball is spinning, now spin the ball and use the pencil to make a mark on the ball moving the pencil until it goes from making a circle/spiral to a defined dot.
You can also do this with any other ball even if it flares but you need to make your trace follow the oil ring that is closest to your thumb and farthest from the fingers this is the release track.
If you do not have access to a spinner or similar you can also use a quarter scale and find the center of the oil ring on the negative side of the ball (NAP) and then find the point on the ball that is 180° from that point this will be your PAP.

If the track's bowtie is above the fingers, the initial track will be the one closest to both the thumb and fingers.  --  JohnP
