I talked to Mo Pinnell and he suggested for my speed and revs (15mph/285 Revs, high track) that I shoul use a 55x3x25 degree system. Could some one tell me what that translates to Storms system?
I bought a Vivid and according to Storms drilling instructions the best drill for a stroker with medium speed is a 3 1/2 x 5 x 3 in pin buffer. Thanks in advance.

It is easy to do. Simply, map out the layout that Mo suggested the measure, pin to PAP, PSA to PAP, and pin buffer. The layout storm suggested sounds close to a label. Mo layout is going to be a bit more aggressive.

Here's the harder way to convert:

55 x 3" x 25 converts to 3" x 5.1272" x 1.182" in Storm-speak (3" pin to PAP, 5.1272" PSA to PAP, and 1.182" pin buffer (pin to VAL))
Feel free to round to 3" x 5 1/8" x 1 1/8" ;)

Thanks for the help guys.

It's not this complicated people....I can assure you that the tolerance between 300 and 180 is not drilling to .0223 inches.

Im curious how long storm will stick with there setup system for layouts. The dual angle is simple and widely used. Your doing the same thing either way it just seems a bit odd. I guess every one wants their own unique stamp on things.

Just my guess here but my gut says that since Kloempken(sp?) was using the pin buffer system way back when, combined with Mo now working for Brunswick which is a competitor, I'll be surprised if they ever do switch to dual angle. As long as the end result is the same, who cares how you get there and what terminology you use?

True. It appears to be metric versus standard.

To me dual angles are easier to do, quicker, and more defined. I can map out 3 balls using DA in the time it takes to use the storm system. It got so bad that I took some time and mapped out the Storm sheet to DA so I wouldnt have to continue to draw arcs.
