Got my chance to drill a "MO"tion hole.
« on: February 13, 2013, 08:35:27 AM »
Ok, so after receiving the new Radical Bowling drill sheet a few weeks ago, i mustered up the desire to punch up something with the new weight hole. I decided on a Rotogrip Shatter in hopes of being able to use the ball on the THS i bowl on. Here are the pics and stats:

Rotogrip Shatter
15lbs 2oz
2 1/4" pin
3 3/8oz top weight

Bowlers Stats:
Lefty
16mph
300 rpms
PAP: 5.5"x1/2"up
Axis tilt: 13*
Axis Rotation: ~60*

The Layout:

The hole position (showing that the hole needed to be moved 1 1/2" because of flaring issues):

The results:
Ok so after drilling the ball, I warmed up with my Defiant Edge standing 22 playing around 10-6, as the THS plays pretty heavy in my shops house. After getting loose, i began to throw the Shatter w/o the hole. I moved to 16 and began throwing the ball up 6 to hit the pocket. The ball rolled great and was hitting the pocket decently but i had little room to miss.

I, then, punched the hole with a 3/4" bit 4" deep. It made the ball run up a little high playing the previous line and i began to have some miss room left of target. Finally, I jumped up to 1 1/8" 4"deep. I lined up 16- playing straight up and smacked the head pin in the face. Overall, I had to make a 4/2 move right of where I started to hit the pocket and the ball was revving up quicker than when I started.

I will test it on a light volume pattern to see the difference in some of my equipment between this week and next. I wish I could have done the test on a lighter pattern to begin with but that wasnt my call as to what they are putting down. All in all, I'm pleased with the reaction on the heavy stuff so I can imagine what the reaction will look like in my home house. Any questions, comments, or criticisms, dont be afraid to ask.

Thanks for reading.

The 900 Global Awakening?

Core is similar to the Rotor core used in the Hot line at Storm, correct?  If so, then it's radially symmetrical...
