Has anyone else heard the rumor of the change in maximum differential rules starting in May 2005 by USBC?
I have heard that they will be reducing it from .080 max to .060 max. This may hamstring some companies offerings in the spring.
Thoughts or comments?

That would also do away with a ball like the 15lb TPC Player... a whopping .068
A 14lb. Xcel would have a nice .075 diff. for them to ban.
If they really want to do this they should at least test the water in Sport Leagues first. Get an idea of how the bowlers take to it and see how much of an impact it has on scoring.

It's kind of hard to read the lanes if you don't know their language...

"hamstring" is a little harsh. Let's just say it's reduces their options minimally.
Often .060 differential can be humongous and is more than enough for anyone or any ball; it can be 8"+ of flare. Besides, we've seen with ball like the Big Blue, its RG diff is small but yet it still has a large enough mass bias differential together with the coverstock to hook more than you need, in general, almost more than you want.
Additionally, there have been somenew designs in coverstocks in recent years, both particle AND resin, that make these HUGE differentials superfluous.

I have a Dynothane Cure that is .050.

well if this passes, bye bye diesel particle, tpc player, and el nino gold for me... maybe they will have a grandfather clause in the rule.
Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, not many balls have over .6 diff anyways.

If they impose this rule I am sure it won't apply to balls that are already approved only new designs. If it does apply to older stuff people are going to be FURIOUS.
