I just ordered a digital scale to check the weights on my bowling balls. The gameplan is to use 1 scale, setup a dummy scale the same height as the scale X distance away and make a frame to hold the ball. If the ball is placed exactly halfway between the contact points of the frame and the scale and dummy scale 1/2 of the ball weight will be read on the digital scale. The scale is supposed to be accurate to .1 ounce. This might be a + or - accuracy, I don't know yet. The scale cost $45. A question though, what is the accuracy of a dodo scale? I assume it's better than the digital scale.

Roughly the same.  The markings for reading imbalance weights are 1/8 oz, interpolate between markings to 1/16 oz.  --  JohnP

I plan on weighing out a ball then take it to a proshop and have it done. Shouldn't cost too much.

Well got the scale today and made a quick frame. I'm getting repeatability to 2 tenths of an ounce. The biggest problem I've got is not having a solid enough workbench top. If I push down on the benchtop the reading on the scale will change. All in all I think it'll work out alright once I fine tune it. Once I get it as good as I can I'll weigh a ball out then take it to the proshop to compare. More to follow.

Wouldn't mind seeing some pics if you can get them...it sounds very interesting.  I can picture the concept in my head, but I'm not sure about a few things.
