Title: do you drill your own equipment?
Post by: chitown on April 20, 2006, 12:31:29 AM: How many of you guys drill your own equipment? If so, how much did your set up cost?

Post by: Long Roller on April 20, 2006, 08:34:03 AM: I have every thing that a shop could possibly have minus a scale and I have about $3500 in it. Well worth the money if your into bowling and drill a lot of balls. You can also drill for other people and make some money on the side.

I know of someone that bought a new drill for 400 dollars plus shipping. That is the kind of deal i'm looking into. He said his entire set up cost about 1,600 for everything he needs to do his own balls.

Scale, bits, drill, gauges, measuring ball, plugging items, inserts/slugs, spinner,I'm sure I forgot something, but that's about it.

Got a SMOKIN deal from a retail store on the drill, bits, jig , that is not selling bowling balls any longer.

Post by: azguy on April 20, 2006, 03:51:08 PM: As I said, watch some of your local retail stores, they will be, soon, not selling bowling balls and IF you catch the right time, the store manager will just want to get it out of his/her backroom. I work for a retail store, backroom space is worth a lot more to them than some old drill/jig. So you might be able to pick up a deal as I did...Good Luck !

Forgot..I also got a Letter Stamp/engraver ( non electrical) , but not going to use it, probably just sell it or use it to hold balls that are being plugged or waiting on customers to pick them up. Not much call for stamping the initials or name in balls anymore.

What he said, except I'm not set up to do plugging. I think I'm into my setup about $1000.

Post by: tjj300 on April 21, 2006, 09:52:38 AM: I was looking into the surplus drilling equipment from that K chain, but here in the NY-NJ-Eastern PA area, they got rid of that stuff well over a year ago.

So I'm collecting everything piecemeal, and I'm not quite drilling, yet.
