I'm leaving for Vegas on Saturday morning, so I spent some time last night double-checking my gear to make sure there are no scale-room surprises. While checking out my Black Hammer urethane, it became apparent that I'm currently over the limit by close to a 1/2 ounce when it comes to thumb weight. To clarify, this is a no-thumb ball with the cg a few inches under the fingers pretty much on what would be the midline and a small weight hole kicked slightly to the right. My first inclination is to simply drill the weight hole a little bit deeper to take a bit more out of that half of the ball. I'm not sure how much to take out though in order to bring it back under the limit. Also, since the weight hole is kicked to the right, I want to make sure taking more out won't then put me too far out of balance side to side. Am I making sense here?

Click on the weight removal chart link below. It gives you an estimate of weight removal for various size and depth holes. You'll first need to estimate how much weight has been removed by the existing hole, they estimate how much additional weight you need to remove, add the two and find a drill bit size and hole depth that corresponds. Remember, any hole can remove weight in the top, side and finger/thumb quadrants - you'll have to estimate based on where your hole is located and your grip center how the total weight removed will be distributed. Enlarge the hole, reweigh, then adjust as needed. If you go too large you can always pour some plug in the bottom of the hole. -- JohnP

Where is the weight hole located? With the grip center on a no thumb ball being between the fingers and with the cg being below the finger a couple inches. Hopefully drilling the weight hole deeper or larger with solve the problem without creating a new one. How's the side weight? Will the larger/deeper weight hole change side weight as well? Just my $.02, Bruce
